In the light of the measures announced or envisaged by Health Protection Scotland to combat the Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic, and given that the health and welfare of students is my primary concern, I have reluctantly concluded that the safest course of action is to suspend all yoga classes and therapy sessions until further notice. Yoga Therapy uses a gentle, therapeutic orientation to yoga that is supportive of those with limited mobility or living with chronic pain and illness. The emphasis may be towards the body, the mind, the emotions or a combination of all of these. Yoga therapy can help to establish more functional breathing and movement patterns and enhance positive strategies for coping and improving quality of life.

Yoga therapists do not diagnose or treat medical conditions, but yoga therapy may help to improve your quality of life if you are living with a chronic health condition. It can also help in dealing with pre-treatment preparation, post treatment recovery and coping with rehabilitation from surgery and injury.

 Yoga therapy sessions give you the specific tools and skills that can help you improve your own quality of life. During a yoga therapy session we adapt the practices of yoga such as exercise, relaxation and meditation to your specific needs and goals, helping you develop a personalised home practice to suit your particular health/mobility issues.

 Yoga therapy sessions usually begin with an initial 90 minute appointment to help establish your goals based on your current health and lifestyle. We also set measurable objectives and complete a posture and movement assessment before deciding together on a practice to suit you.

Follow up appointments last for 60 minutes during which we discuss your progress and review and refine your practice.

Appointments are available with me on Wednesdays between 10:00 – 14:00, at The Well-being Rooms, 5A Kirk Road, Bearsden G61 3RG.
